It is sometimes not difficult to guess why a headache has occurred, when it comes to drunkenness or lack of sleep. But sometimes it’s really hard to find out why it hurts your head and why exactly in a particular place.
Depending on where it occurs, it can be a serious health problem. A strong headache appears as “out of the blue” and achieves maximum intensity in a few seconds. It can be an indication of a range of health problems, including bleeding because of a blood spilled in the brain, which is life-threatening.
If your headache occurs early in the morning, you should go to a doctor because it can be brain tumor, apnea, very high blood pressure … You should also seek medical help if you have vision changes, problems with headache with the digestive system, mood swings, and tension in the neck or irritability.
Headaches vary in both the place and the pain, and these are the most common:
- Occurs in one half of the head
It is a migraine which is not a dangerous headache, but is very hard for those who suffer from it, because it can last up to 72 hours. You will recognize it after a pulsating pain of moderate or strong intensity, and sometimes there is nausea and hypersensitivity to noise and light. It is important to take a pain pill immediately after the onset of the first symptoms and to rest in a dark and quiet room.
- You feel like someone is pressing your head
This is a tense headache that occurs gradually and reaches a medium intensity of pain, and the feeling is as if someone clasped your head with a hoop. It is most commonly caused by stress and it is good to shed a bit in such a case.
- Pain on one side of the face, swollen lid
It is a “cluster” headache that is strong and lasts for cycles of two weeks to a month. It occurs at a certain time of the year, and it may pass a year between two attacks. During its duration, the pain occurs almost every day during the same period of the day or night and lasts between half an hour and three hours.
Those who suffer from such a headache have noticed that it is better for them to move, unlike those with migraine who have to rest. The pain occurs on one side of the head and usually on that part of the face the nostril is clogged, the lid swells, the eye is red, and the face and forehead are swollen. This type of headache is five times more common in men.
- Pain in the forehead
In this case, it is a headache caused by sinus inflammation. The pain can be felt on the berries. Will help inhalation and shower with hot water (because of the steam that is inhaled).
- Pain in the back of the head (at the neck) and on the scalp
This type of headache occurs due to problems with the waist and neck. For example, it may occur if you sit for a long time. Stretch yourself out, go out in the fresh air …
- Pain on the temples
It occurs when someone has a disorder of the jaw and causes a tense headache. In addition to pain in the temples, there are pains in the ear, face, difficulties in opening and closing the mouth, and there is also a tremble when the jaw moves. In such cases, it is important that you go to a doctor.
Keeping a diary of headaches
Experts say it’s good to keep a diary of headaches, for example, how often they occur, at what time, where it hurts, how long they last, what activities or foods, drinks preceded headaches and the like. Based on these observations, it will be easier for a doctor to diagnose what is going on.
